What to expect

Once you have contacted me I will arrange a 15 minute consultation appointment with you. During this appointment we will briefly discuss what your problems are, what you are looking for and decide if a more detailed assessment appointment would be useful for you. If you decide to continue then we will arrange an assessment appointment and I will e-mail you a copy of my terms and conditions.

In the first full assessment appointment you will be asked to provide contact information and sign a copy of the terms and conditions. Depending on what difficulties you are experiencing I may also ask you to fill in questionnaires for the next appointment. At this point it is your decision if you want to continue on to therapy appointments.

If you think psychological therapy may be helpful and you decide to go ahead, we will then meet regularly for an agreed number of appointments. Appointments usually take place weekly or fortnightly and we can discuss what would best suit your needs. All of our appointments will have a session plan which we decide on together at the start of each appointment.

Examples of what the session plan can include:

  • discussion or any questions about our previous appointment
  • issues or events that have happened between appointments
  • therapy focusing on your difficulties and treatment goals
  • planning and reviewing practice between appointments
