I am a Clinical Psychologist with over 12 years experience of working therapeutically with people with physical health problems and receiving medical treatment.
I worked as a Clinical Psychologist in the NHS for 8 years, before spending almost 5 years in New Zealand, working for the public health service and a private injury rehabilitation company.
I have supported people with a range of medical diagnoses and health concerns, including chronic/persistent pain, HIV, Hepatitis C, cancer, diabetes, kidney disease, burn injuries, concussion, and limb loss.
I also have worked with people having risk-reducing mastectomy surgery, orthognathic (jaw) surgery, osseointegration, reconstructive and cosmetic plastic surgery, and people wanting to be a kidney donor.
I’m comfortable having difficult conversations about health and medical conditions, treatments, symptoms and the effect they have on your mental wellbeing.
I’m also used to hearing about the reality of a range of health problems, medical treatments and surgery.
I often speak to people feeling really distressed about their health, when they aren’t sure if things can improve if their health condition stays the same.
I have lots of experience collaboratively helping people who feel this way, and believe you are the expert in your condition and how it affects you.
